SELF-LEADERSHIP
FOR EMPOWERING
NEURODIVERGENT ADUlTS

Self-leadership means being able to make more mindful choices that feel kind and authentic for yourself and others. This involves 2 key factors which are mindfulness and self-compassion. Mindfulness offers us access to being curious about what is happening in any given moment. Self-compassion comes from a place of openness and care, which can also include fierce self-compassion components that can support us to take purposeful action.

Ultimately self-leadership means being more led by your authentic, mindful choices that come from a sense of care, rather than being led by automatic mind-less tendencies that may have been passed down to us from various parts of our society. Also many of us can often be led by our unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and emotions that can get in the way of living each day in meaningful and authentic ways.  Through the exploration of various mindfulness and self-compassion practices we can get to know and befriend the various parts of ourselves which can then foster the many gifts of self-leadership. To me this self-leadership is really about becoming your own best friend, ally or leader.

We are all unique for what works for us for developing mindfulness practices and it is important to be given opportunities to discover what works for each of us. And this is especially the case for those of us who have neurodivergent brains, as we tend to need to develop the mindfulness and self-compassion tools and practices that we can easily use in our everyday lives.

I am excited to share that I am in the process of creating some self-leadership mindfulness workshops that are based on my training in teaching trauma sensitive mindfulness and self-compassion practices, that also incorporate my training in the 'Internal Family Systems' (IFS) Model developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz.  An excellent self-help book about the 'Internal Family Systems' (IFS) Model is 'No Bad Parts' by Dr. Richard Schwartz. These workshops will also include information about neurodivergent brain differences, neuroscience and neurodivergent-friendly adaptations for mindfulness and self-compassion practices.

These workshops are designed to support the needs of neurodivergent adults (such as ADHD, PDA, Autism, Highly Sensitive Person, etc). And are inclusive to people of all neurotypes, all ability levels, and all identities. Also these offerings are available to people across Canada, as well as in other countries! All brains are welcome!

Please stay tuned and to see below for how to be kept in the loop when more information about these workshops becomes available!

The RAIN of Self-compassion is an applied mindfulness practice that can be helpful for making friends with ourselves and our experiences (especially our challenging day-to-day experiences).  During the classes you will learn about and explore some variations of this practice to discover what works best for you. This 4-session introduction to the RAIN practice can support you with taking steps towards cultivating more self-compassion in your daily life.  Developing self-compassion is a powerful and life-long journey of shifting our relationship with ourself from being our own worst enemy, to becoming a kind and supportive friend that we can regularly call on.
